Mohammad Ebadul Karim, Managing Director of Beacon Pharmaceuticals PLC, has highly praised the role of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the country’s health sector and said it will help attaining the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) targets by 2030.
“Our Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has done a lot in Bangladesh’s health sector and upholding her achievement, the UN has conferred the Prime Minister with the SGD progress award,” Ebadul Karim, also a lawmaker of the parliament from Brahmanbaria-5 constituency, has said.
He was addressing a programme held at Hotel Intercontinental in Dhaka ahead of the first convention of the Upazila Health and Family Planning Officers’ (UHFPO) forum.
Beacon Pharmaceuticals, one of the leading drug makers in Bangladesh, has extended its all-out cooperation to make the programme successful.
Ebadul Karim, in his speech, called upon the public representatives to come forward alongside the public administration to bring change in the socioeconomic condition and improve the quality of healthcare services for the country’s marginal people.
Citing examples of many development activities in his electoral area, Ebadul Karin, also a very successful businessman, said the Nabinagar Upazila Health Complex has achieved top position in the country for serving patients with quality healthcare services.
He also described the health complex as a model one in the country.
While delivering speeches during the programme, all the participants have equivocally made a pledge to ensure people-oriented health services in the country following the principles of equality and fairness in their duties through protecting dignity and privacy of the patients.
Health and Family Welfare Minister Zahid Maleque attended the programme as chief guest while Mohammad Ebadul Karim was present at the programme as special guest.
Lokman Hossain Miah, senior secretary of the Health Service Division, Dr Mostafa Jalal Mohiuddin, president of Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA), Dr Ehteshamul Haque Chowdhury Dulal, Secretary General of the BMA, Dr MA Aziz, President of Swadhinata Chikitshok Parishad, Dr Rokeya Sultana, Health and Population affairs Secretary of Bangladesh Awami League, among others, also attended the programme as special guest.
Meer Mobarak Hossain presented key note papers during the programme presided over by ABM Khurshid Alam, Director General of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
