One in each eight women is at the risk of Breast Cancer.

A seminar on breast cancer has recently been arranged at Beacon Business Centre in Dhaka with an aim to raise awareness among the country’s women about the risk of the disease.
Beacon Oncology Limited, a sister concern of Beacon Group arranged the seminar on October 12, 2020, where all women colleagues of the business centre attended enthusiastically.

Dr. Rawshan Ara Begum, Associate Professor, Oncology Department of the National Institute of Cancer Research and Hospital (NICRH) attended the programme as chief guest.

Mrs. Nurun Nahar Karim, Chairman, Beacon Pharmaceuticals Limited; Mrs. Nazmun Nahar Rahman, Director (Oncology Plant) also took part in the seminar.

Mrs. Nurun Nahar extended her sincere thanks to the organizer and greeted the chief guest by handing over a bucket of flowers.

Dr Rawshan Ara delivered her valuable speech on the breast cancer awareness during the programme.

In her address, she said one in each eight women is at the risk of breast cancer and 12764 women are infected with the disease every year afresh.

Mammogram, a process of using low-energy X-rays to examine the human breast for diagnosis and screening, is needed to be done once in a year from 40 years.

Diagnostic mammograms are also performed on patients with breast implants, breast reductions, and patients with personal or family histories of breast cancer.

It is important to be aware if there is any family history in this regard, Dr Rawshan Ara said.

As part of precautionary measures, screening and testing were also conducted for the female employees of the company.

The Breast Cancer Awareness Month is marked across the world every October to help increase attention and support for the awareness, early detection and treatment as well as palliative care of this disease.
